This place ROCKS! I travel quite a bit and like to find local spots like this. The Bagels were fresh and delicious, the prices fair, and the staff helpful. I will def be back again.

I have always wanted to try this place out, and I'm so glad I finally made the drive! Who cares about Panera Bread, you have to support locally owned businesses and this one has THE BEST bagels I've ever tasted. Thick and fluffy, I had the jalapeño bagel with jalapeño cream cheese (all made right there) and I ended up turning back around to get more for home. DELICIOUS!

As a New Yorker I an extremely picky about bagels and pizza. So far there hasn't been a place here in Jax that compares in either category, that is until I discovered this small bagel place at the beach. The bagels here are big, soft yet still with a crunch---just as they should be, so I know they are made the right way. They are not cheap with the cream cheese, which is made on site as well. They have different kinds, all freshly made. As I find myself spreading around the ample amount of cream cheese with my finger then taking a bite into this warm, delicious bagel I almost feel like I'm back home again. I am happy to say I've found a bagel place here in Jax that knows what they're doing. The staff was direct and friendly; keeping their composure and never missing a beat despite the morning rush. If you come here during their prime time, prepare to wait and expect them to run out of the everything bagels, because it's fresh there is a limited amount; as a customer and someone who comes from a place where this is just another characteristic of a great bagel shop, I appreciate it. I remember lines that wrapped around the block back in NY for a good bagel; coffee in one hand and paper in the other, you waited because you knew it was so worth it. Knowing that these weren't made the night before to sit and wait for morning is a refreshing reality that once again reminds me of home. If you are too late, that's you're problem; you can order something else or wait for the next batch. Seating is very limited, which is fine and frankly how it should be because because the focus is on the bagel. You can sit with a coffee and a bagel by the window, watching the cars go by if you're in no rush, otherwise you just grab and go! This place is a walk from the beach and has dedicated bike parking as well. I never tried the drive through, so I have no comment on that. Usually I park across the street and walk over.

I love this place. I get a sesame bagel with strawberry cream cheese. These bagels are more cake like then NY style so you have to enjoy them for what they are. Also be prepared to wait- only reason I didn't give 5 stars. Best bagel place in JAX though so worth it!

Well I finally broke down and went into Bagel World this morning. I know a few folks that love this place. I have even eaten a bagel or two. I have also had some of the best in this country. At least some of the best bagels as recommended by food bloggers and some guy named Beard. Again I tried the southern Bialy and again it fell short. This one was no where near the bialys of Kossar's fame. The people were very friendly not like some of the reviews that I read. We had a good conversation about their product and comes to find out they get the bagels and bialys par baked. Then they just finish them. Not quite what I'm used to but maybe next time I will try the bagel and cream cheese that I used to get in NYC.

Here's the truth, I like Bagel World, but they are not my favorite for a couple of reasons.... First the location, it's extremely hard to get in and out of, which makes me rarely want to stop in for bagel. Second is the staff, they are just not consistent with the food or the service. Sometimes I feel like I'm just a $ sign to them, no matter how often I come in. I only order 2 things when I go to Bagel world and it's either an everything bagel with chives cream cheese, lox and capers or an everything bagel with lox cream cheese and capers (basically the same thing but one is way cheaper compared to the other) and even though that's all I ever get, the quality is never the same. The one thing I think Bagel World does have going for them is the taste because man those bagels are fluffy and dense, which doesn't seem possible but for them it is the truth. With all that being said, I'll still eat at Bagel World occasionally but honestly I wish it was more.

I really like Bagel World. They've been open for years and I've been going ever since I moved here 10 years ago. I love the everything bagel. They have a wide variety of bagel options and homeade cream cheese. They also offer croissants and other breakfast items. Its great if you need something quick and delicious. They have a drive thru which makes it very convenient.

  • Lauren T.

I have been coming here since I was a kid. LOVE the food, but waiting 30 minutes for a bagel is crazy. Its time to come up with a better system!!

I usually don't write many reviews, but this one needs it!! I don't know what other people were thinking when they said these tasted like NY bagels. They did not have any resemblance to any bagel I have ever tasted, especially one from NY. These must be baked and taste more like bread, and look like a large biscuit. The ones you can get at BJs are much better than these.

I love starting my day with the BLT bagel and mocha iced coffee. The wait is pretty long but it's worth it.

Yesterday I was starving at work so my boyfriend ran up to Bagel World and grabbed me one. It was absolutely amazing, so amazing in fact I woke up this morning to go get one myself. Although I am still excited for this bagel, what the heck were they thinking with this parking??? The drive thru is a nightmare and there are like five spaces for parking. This place definitely gets more than five people here. It's time to upsize Bagel World. I got a plain bagel with plain cream cheese, it was soooo good. I could double as a New Yorker because I love lathering on the cream cheese and they do it for me without even having to ask. I read a couple of reviews from other helpers that said the employees were all rude and fortunately I did not experience that. The guy who took my order was very nice and quick. The only thing I would advice is that he should have asked if I wanted it toasted. I completely forgot to ask, since usually when I get a bagel I make it at home, and was pretty sad when I got home and it had not been toasted.

Bagel World rocks. They are situated uncomfortably close to a Panera, which was poor planning on someones part but both businesses seem to stay busy enough. Unsurprisingly, Bagel World has a decent sized selection of bagels but I noticed that they were starting to clear out when we went at 11AM on a Saturday. One thing that stands out immediately is that the bagels here are not exactly round. They have sort of a square shape, but the consistency is similar to any other bagel. Maybe slightly less chewy and dense than others. They have a number of different spreads and toppings, or you can elect to turn your bagel into a sandwich. Bacon, egg and cheese was great on a salt bagel. The parking situation here is not good. Basically they have just a handful of spaces on the side of the building, but the drivethrough (window on the side of the building) lane cuts right through them, which could cause a serious headache getting in and out if there is a line.

Doughy bagels. Way, way, way too much cream cheese. Coffee is watered down. Not impressed at all. Will not go back.

I've been going to BW for 3 years and loving it. BUT the last4 months have been terrible. I keep thinking it will get back to normal but not getting there. They are consistently out of popular bagels and today was the worst. The bagels are now smaller and ours weren't completely cooked. Doughy inside, just miserable. They need to step it up. Its season so tourists go but for us year rounders I've got to find a new place.

    (2)
  • Suzanne B.

attentive courteous employees. bagels are doughy baseballs not tasting or resembling NY or even NJ bagels. very disappointing. coffee was also subpar. I think it was maxwell house. would not return.

  • Jacob M.

Perfect bagels every time. I get the special on an egg bagel with ham not bacon. And it is delicious! Their lunch is even good. As a regular, I would say go inside if you see a big line in the drive-through. You may be waiting much longer than you would want to, but if you go inside, they usually whip it up a lot quicker. I love Bagel World!

Finding a bagel shop near the beaches isn't easy. You can have Starbucks, Panera Bread or 7-11 no problem, but a place where fresh bagels are made at 5 a.m. every morning in 25+ flavors and styles? That's not common. And you certainly can't find a place with 10+ different flavors of cream cheese. That is, unless you head inside Bagel World. This is one of those places you'll frequent if you're a local and tell your friends about if you're just visiting. It's that little tiny hole in the wall restaurant with 3 tables that has a line out the door throughout the morning. Bagels, coffee, breakfast sandwiches, etc... Crafted in such a way that truly stands out. It can get hectic in there when it's full of people, and the staff can get a little short with you, but it's only because they're trying to serve a large group of people quickly and efficiently. They have great hearts and are always smiling while taking orders. My favorite is the EVERYTHING bagel with jalapeño cream cheese. It's a little spicy and a little salty and it just works. So good. Get over to Bagel World for the best freshly made bagel you've had in a lifetime. They even have a mini drive thru window too, if you are in a hurry.

  • Dani V.

So good and they know it, but takes forever and they're still rude. People go insane for this place. It does have great bagels but they take forever with their service. Not mention, with all the time that it does take, I don't really have time for the attitude of their employees. Except for one boy who is always so friendly when I see him. They do have great bagels and they know their community wants more, more, more but I wish they would be a little friendlier to their loyal bagel consumers!

  • John S.

This is my favorite bagel place in Jax. The bagels are oversized compared to Panera and other places. The staff is friendly and fast with little turnover in the years I've been going. Outdoor seating is the best when the weather cooperates. Indoor seating isn't worth mentioning. Usually I get mine to go through the drive up window. The only negative is that the variety of bagels goes down after 10am on the weekends so don't sleep too late.

I have been coming to bagel world for over 10 years. I used to live right across the street from there and would walk over often. I moved away to St. Augustine for a few years and came back. I have been frequenting bagel world since I've been back. More times than not the service is absolutely horrible. For a very small shop they have the attitude of the big-box stores workers. I can't even exaggerate enough to describe how unfriendly some of these people are when you ring the bell in the drive-through. It's to the point where I don't want to eat the sandwich sitting next to me because I wonder if they spit in my food. The girl that opens the window could not be any more unfriendly or have more of an attitude problem. I will say though that their food is good the prices are good if you can get past the attitude problem that most of the workers have when you walk into this place. It's like they're mad because you're not one of their high school friends and you don't fit into their crowd. I'm not coming back to this place ever again. Good thing Panera is right next door.

  • Jeff J.

I tried this place 3 times. Basically not friendly and slow. It has never been busy when I was there and have never been welcomed or even thanked. And where do they get there bagels???...the place isn't big enough to make them in-house.

  • Stephanie D.

Unique bagel place, unlike any I've seen. Loved all the different bagel breakfast sandwich options. I had the BLT on multigrain (I wanted pumpernickel, but I guess they sell out of flavors quickly on the weekends), and it was really freakin' good! I would definitely go back if I lived in the area. One word of warning: the place is T-I-N-Y. And super busy, especially on this weekend morning when I went. So don't be in a rush, and wait outside for your food if you tend to get claustrophobic. :)

Good bagels. Great bagel sanwiches, like turkey or pastrami. Breakfast bagels with egg and bacon are great too. Friendly staff.

I absolutely love bagel world. they have a variety of bagels and cream cheeses -- but they also have the best blueberry muffins and lunch sandwich bagels as well. the muffins are so good that they go quick, so you have to get there early. bagel world is open until 2pm so you can pick up lunch as well. today I tried to Italian bagel and it was superb.. as everything at bagel world. it was loaded with genoa salami and pepperoni. the tomatoes were fresh. bagel world knows how to make a great bagel sandwich. my husband consistently gets the tuna salad bagel with banana peppers. I love their pasta salad with poppy seeds! needless to say, bagel world never disappoints. their sweet tea is delicious. their bagels are nice and chewy. their cream cheese is delectable. when i was in the hospital from giving birth, my husband brought me bagel world everyday for breakfast. that's how much I love them. you can go there daily and still get variety. :) bagel world, thank you for existing.

I stop by Bagel World on my way to work a few times a month. Their bagel and cream cheese selections are amazing! I always get a salt bagel with bacon scallion cream cheese! My favorite part... when you order a bagel with cream cheese, they will toast it and put cream cheese on it... unlike the rip off next door :)

Being from Long Island, it's been hard finding good bagels. This place has the best bagels I've had so far, crusty on the outside, chewy on the inside. They have a great variety and also make breakfast sandwiches. It's pretty busy in the morning so be prepare to wait.

    (4)
  • Kellyn M.

Atrocious service, attitudes, and a nightmare of staff. Limited bagel selection for it being 10am. Need a bagel bad enough then it's worth the trip.

Today was my first visit and I will very likely never go back. First of all, the location is very difficult to get in and out of. The parking lot is striped for one way access but the only egress in that direction is through the drive-thru lane. Secondly, it took about 5-7 minutes before someone recognized that I was there and greeted me. Then, I gave the girl my order twice and I got home to find out that she had still messed up my order. I was hoping at this point that the bagels would be delicious and save my experience but they weren't. As I sit here eating my bagel, writing this review, it is not warm, does not taste fresh, and is the wrong bagel I wanted. I want to support local business which is why I went here but in this case I will get my bagels next door at Panera now. I will say two good things- the coffee is good and the lox on my wrong bagel is good. Sorry Bagel World, you lost my business.

Bagel World is a quaint local spot with big, fresh bagels. The bagels are a bit more doughy than I like but I like the variety and their cream cheese selection is awesome. The sun-dried tomato is really yummy. I'm a big fan of local spots so I would definitely most rather go to Bagel World than Panera's which is right next to it. FYI - they have a drive thru window that gets backed up.

These bagels are ok but Bagels R Us on Beach is far superior. I have complained so many times to the young ladies manning the counter that they are burning one side of the bagels. But let's face it, how critical is it to have perfect bagels in Jax?

bagel world is my favorite bagel place of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Tracey G.

Grabbed an Everything bagel with Lox cream cheese and a berry muffin a few days ago. The bagel is perfection, toasted crispy on the outside, fluffy yet dense in the inside. The lox cream cheese is so tasty, reminds me of a quicker version of the actual lox bagel which includes salmon and capers. Their lox cream cheese seems to have just the bits of salmon mixed in. The muffin was so moist, with bites of strawberries and blueberries in it! The prices are reasonable, and they sell bags of "yesterday's bagels" by the door for cheap (granted, not as fresh). I only gave them 4 stars because the location is absolutely terrible, very cramped parking lot and virtually no room for the drive thru. I'll definitely be back though :)

  • Claudia B.

Poor and very slow customer service. The drive thru is the worse. It took 50 minutes. Yes, 50! The only reason why I waited was because my husband was sick at home and asked me for a bagel from this place. But this is the last time I do business with this bagel shop. Ohh, and the staff is rude and have no customer service skills and parking is non existent.

    (1)
  • Jordan L.

This is a nice quaint little bagel shop. The bagels and sandwiches were delish. I was able to buy day old bagels for $3.60 a dozen. What a deal too. This place is appropriately priced. They have a good lox spread, and the potato salad is awesome.

    (4)
  • Karen R.

Dont let the hole in the wall atmosphere concern you...excellent choice for lunch or breakfast. Fresh made bagels---as good as any you get in New York. Great topping selection. If you like Tomatoes on your Bagel, they don't skimp. Wonderful friendly service.

    (5)
  • Ally R.

Every time I come to Jacksonville, I have to make a stop here for a breakfast sandwich..one of the best I've had. And they are so friendly!

    (5)
  • M. B. G.

The bagels are always fresh and delicious. There are many great options for both bagels (all the usual suspects, plus some) and cream cheese (honey-vanilla, blueberry, strawberry, and more). Parking is extremely limited, and some times there is a wait due to limited food prep space inside, but it is worth it for these bagels.

    (4)
  • Bill L.

Ive walked past this place a hundred times going to Panera, today I decided to stop. They had a variety of bagels and sandwiches as you might expect. Menu was hand written and difficult to read because its pretty busy. I took a few mins to look it over before ordering a bacon, egg and cheese bagel. I asked the person I ordered it from to "toast and butter" the bagel. Price was average at $3.75. I walked back home and by the time I opened it up, the cheese wasn't even melted and I couldn't find s hint of butter. Looks like I'll keep walking next time

    (2)
  • Emily S.

I wish I could say I tasted the food. However after 15 minutes of being ignored I had to leave. I understand being busy, but it's another thing to have 6-8 different people working, walking around, and flat out ignoring you. I walk out. The parking lot is a mess- I have no idea how the city allows it to function. We are stuck in our parking spot for 20 minutes as the drive through blocks all exits. Not only that, someone hit my car trying to get out. An absolute nightmare. Not worth the hassle!

  • Linsey R.

Absolutely the Best Bagels on the Beach! I hit the drive they every weekend! You know there good when there kickin Paneras ass next door!!

Today I went through the Bagel World drive thru to get my usual Croissant with egg and cheese...but was very sad to have seen artificial cheese on my sandwich. I didn't even eat it..I love this place, I hope this was a one time occurence.

  • Amy R.

I'm so sorry, I wanted to give this more stars. But, it's gone downhill. The bagels tasted like the musty smell we thought we caught wind of while we were waiting for our order. It was awful. I got the garlic bagel, toasted, and it was sooooo hard i almost broke my teeth. The cheese tasted bland. I wish I was wrong!

    (1)
  • Lu W.

This is my absolute favorite place to get a bagel in Jacksonville (unless I am in the mood for the cinnamon crunch bagel at Panera). The bagels are fresh as well as the variety of cream cheeses. Laid back staff and very affordable.

  • Daisy D.

Bagel World is a local bagel shop at the beach that I've been to a couple of times. I'm a bagel girl when it comes to a quick breakfast, so this is my kind of place. It is a tucked away and not the easiest to get into, but worth a stop when I'm in the area. The staff can be a little gruff at times, but I've never found them to be rude. I'm a fan of their cheese bagel, as is my sister in law. Sometimes you have to sweet talk the guys behind the counter, because even if they appear to be out of something they might not really be. They have a lot of regulars that they will set things aside for and hold. On one hand, I think that's pretty cool, but on the other hand I can understand the frustration it can cause to other patrons. I'm not one of those regulars, but I'm okay with that.

Really nice staff, friendly and patient! Let us try fresh jalapeño cheddar muffin and variety of breakfast and lunch sandwiches! Yummmmm

    (5)
  • Jenny S.

I'm a New York City woman, so I appreciate bagels, ok? So it is with years of experience that I can say this is a great bagel place. The various types of cream cheese are delicious and they make a great lox one too. I generally get the everything bagel and it's perfect, crusty outside with a soft tender inside. Bagel World has a delicious egg sandwich called, The Special, which you can have with egg whites, should you want to feel better about choices! The staff is friendly and really make an effort. On weekends, prepare to be patient because it's pretty crowded. My lack of that fifth star only comes from the fact they close promptly at 2 pm, and I wish they didn't. If you get there after 1, it's slim pickings on the bagels. But for the breakfast and early lunch crowd, it's authentic, local and fantastic.

    (4)
  • Heather N.

I'm a fan of their bagels and my most recent experience with an everything bagel topped with scallion cream cheese, lox and tomatoes was really good. However, the service is a bit slow and the food is a bit overpriced.

  • Deb S.

I wanted to check out a new place and thought I would pop in this morning. First of all, there is no popping in. Parking is practically non existent and once you commit there is no easy way out. Street parking is a must. The drive thru is what appealed to me but they were backed up and I sat for over 20 minutes before opting to park and go in. Once inside, staff really friendly and though I only ordered 2 bagels sliced and toasted, I still had to wait over 15 minutes. Maybe it was timing, Saturday morning at 8AM?? Would I return? Sure, if I have time on my hands. Would I recommend? Bagels were okay...3 out of 5.

    (3)
  • Gayle C.

Decent bagels, but they have the most horrible, inefficient service I have EVER experienced. They are SO slow, you end up waiting at least the minimum of 30-40 minutes for (2) bagels. This may be the last time we visit this place, just because they are so slow and have the worst system. The food is NOT worth the wait. Save your precious time and go to Bold Bean or Panera next door.

  • Lauren H.

I got a turkey reuben croissant and a B.L.T. on pumpernickel. Not a fan of the turkey reuben. The sauerkraut was the nastiest and most sour/rotten I've ever had. I couldn't even finish 1 bite. My boyfriend tried it and he said the same thing. The B.L.T. was very tasty, but hardly had any bacon, lettuce, or tomato on it. The pumpernickel bagel was very hard as well, I would've rather of had a softer and fresher tasting bagel. The service was awesome, despite the business of the establishment (at 10:00 AM on a Sunday), and the woman who checked me out was extremely friendly. I was NOT A FAN of their parking. It is HORRIBLE. If you go, just park next to Panera, or even behind it and walk over. I ordered to-go, so I didn't stay inside to eat. Their establishment is very tiny, but I did get a peek of their outside seating, which seemed nice. I probably will not be back, this bagel place is not as good as the other ones I've visited in the area.
